Thirteen-year-old Ben has a knack for finding the wrong friends. After his last set of friends almost sent him to Juvi, Ben has a ray of hope: he can spend the summer with his grandfather, Jack. But when he arrives, he begins to doubt his decision. Meanwhile, his mother, Amanda, is taking a leap of faith and going on her first date in 13 years. In the end, Ben learns many lessons from his grandfather, new dog, Dog, and a salesman, Smitty, including hard work, perseverance, and selflessness.
